ICOM ICMAH Corporate Museums Working Group Workshop 2026
The International Working Group of Corporate Museums, operating under The International Committee for Museums and Collections of Archaeology and History (ICMAH)—a professional committee established in 1947 as part of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and currently based in Paris under the auspices of UNESCO—cordially invites you to participate in its upcoming Workshop scheduled for June 23, 2026. This Workshop will be conducted in a hybrid format, with participation options available at the Musée de la Poste in Paris, France, as well as online.
Titled “The Shared Archive and Collection – Reimagining Corporate Museums as Civic Hubs” this one-day Workshop aims to explore how corporate museums can evolve beyond their private origins to function as essential civic hubs. The Workshop will investigate strategies that can transform industrial archives and collections into shared public assets, focusing on the following themes:
- Transforming into Third Places: Identifying strategies to convert private industrial archives and museums into community spaces that enhance urban revitalization and social engagement.
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Empowerment: Leveraging corporate history to empower marginalized communities, promote diversity, and facilitate impactful social initiatives.
- Beyond the “Brand Story”: Incorporating the insights of workers, residents, and other marginalized stakeholders into the corporate museum’s exhibitions.
This Workshop is a collaborative effort involving ICOM France, the Centre de recherche et d’études: Histoire et sociétés at the Université d’Artois, and the Musée de la Poste in Paris, France.
We invite researchers, museum professionals, and educators to submit their proposals by April 30, 2026.
Notifications of acceptance will be communicated by mid-May 2026.
